Donald Emerson Hayes, 46, was arrested on Saturday after allegedly attempting to abduct a child at the Coastland Mall in Naples, Florida
According to witnesses, the young boy was at the mall with his family, when Hayes began to follow them.
The Collier County Sheriff’s Office reported Hayes allegedly offered the family money in exchange for stopping and speaking with him. Hayes then allegedly grabbed the child and took off.
Britney and Nikolas Egger, who witnessed the attack at the mall stated that the child’s mother screamed and that Hayes then put the child down. The Eggers called police and followed Hayes. They identified him when law enforcement arrived near the food court.
The 46-year-old Naples man is currently in the custody of the Collier County Sheriff. He is charged with Kidnap and with Battery. He is being held on $2,500 bond.
